Why is it when people start a weight loss effort the first thing they do is try and figure out how many calories you have to burn a day to lose a pound or two or week. Drop one desert a week, and choose to eat an extra half cup of fruit or vegetable in place of that baked potato, and you are likely to cut enough calories to lose a pound a week.
Lose Weight By Walking
You can also lose weight by walking without having to count your steps. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you can or park at the far end of the parking lot when going to the store or the mall. You would be surprised how quickly taking those few extra steps can burn calories if you make a conscious effort to do it regularly. Even a 10 or 15 minute walk each night after dinner will help to burn calories and will also make it easier to sleep.
Take Part In Fun Activities
While you can lose weight by walking that isn’t the only activity that will burn off calories. Taking part in some fun activities can also help to burn off calories. Try taking that dance class you’ve been talking about, or go swimming, roller blading, snow skiing, skating or sledding. Or simply get outdoors and throw a Frisbee or kick a ball around with the kids. Every step you take, every swing of a leg or an arm will help your to burn additional calories in a way that is fun and interesting.
Losing weight is never simple and losing weight in a healthy way isn’t fast but, keeping a positive attitude cutting back on calories and finding fun and interesting ways to take those extra steps you need to burn those calories.
